Sailing into the New Year in Marina del Rey

Posted on December 29, 2021 | Filed Under: Local Events | Tags: City Cruises by Hornblower, Marina del Rey, Marina Lights, NYE dinner cruise, NYE Fireworks | 2 Comments

Trying to decide what to do to ring in the new year? Look no further than Marina del Rey! There are several fun options to choose from, so read on for ideas on how to celebrate the last few days of 2021!

Marina Lights

On Wednesday (12/29) and Thursday (12/30) from 4-10pm, Burton Chace Park will be all aglow! Stroll through with friends and family to enjoy the festive display of sparkling lights and décor.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks Display

Come celebrate the New Year with fireworks in Marina del Rey! There are two (2) ten-minute shows held at 9pm and midnight. The shows will be shot from the Marina’s south jetty and can be viewed from virtually anywhere in Marina del Rey, Venice Pier, Playa Vista and Dockweiler Beach. NOTE: Burton Chace Park is closed to the public on New Year’s Eve. Click here for more info before you head down to watch the firework show.

Eat, Drink and Be Merry!

Enjoy delicious food and specialty drinks at Marina del Rey’s popular waterfront restaurants and/or hotels.

Cast and Plow, located at The Ritz-Carlton, is a waterfront restaurant that offers two dinner seatings on New Year’s Eve with prime views of the fireworks.

Sail into the New Year

Last month I experienced my first brunch cruise with City Cruises by Hornblower.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary. It was a great way to commemorate the special occasion! I noticed that there were other small groups celebrating birthdays and anniversaries during the brunch. We really enjoyed cruising around the harbor and the delicious food. I highly recommend doing a brunch or dinner cruise in the new year.

However, if you are looking for a NYE dinner cruise, then check out the New Year’s Eve Moonlight Pier Pressure Cruise. You’ll board the yacht at Dock 52 on Fiji Way and pay parking is available at nearby Fisherman’s Village.

As you can see there are several New Year’s Eve indoor/outdoor options in Marina del Rey. Whatever you end up doing on NYE, please be safe and celebrate responsibly!

Disclosure: No monetary compensation was received for this post. I received complimentary tickets to the City Cruises brunch which helped facilitate this review. All images are mine unless otherwise noted. As always, my opinions are 100% my own.
