Getting Colorful with Creative Crayons Workshop

Posted on May 17, 2023 | Filed Under: Product Reviews | Tags: coloring tablecloths, Creative Crayons Workshop, handmade crayons, personalized tablecloth, Shannon Bennett | 2 Comments

Summer is coming and that means backyard barbecues, birthday parties, summer picnics, etc. As parents, I know we are always looking for different ways to entertain the kiddos during these times. I’ve found a wonderful screen-free activity that is interactive, tons of fun and involves other children. Enter Creative Crayons Workshop!

Creative Crayon Workshop - Hello Summer tablecloth

Creative Crayons Workshop is a female-owned online business that offers a variety of coloring tablecloths for various holidays and celebrations. The company also sells coloring puzzles and playful-shaped crayons.

What I like about the giant tablecloth is that it has multiple uses. You can place it on top of a table as decoration and use it for an activity.

The tablecloth also doubles as a birthday banner!

Now I’m sure you’re wondering, who is the person behind Creative Crayons Workshop?

Shannon Bennett is the founder of the company and a home school mom of four small kids.

Creative Crayons Workshop is a ‘Mom Made’ brand which is a badge of honor that Shannon wears proudly. Every coloring design is made with the heart of families in mind, designed to promote not only creativity but relational, screen-free fun as well. Recently I interviewed Shannon about her business. Check out her interview below!

What inspired you to start the Creative Crayons Workshop?

Shannon: Creative Crayons Workshop was started by the simplicity of a homeschool project with my four children. We were making something from nothing and chose to take broken crayons that would normally be tossed away and transform them into a new, better version of themselves. Once we had created several toy-like shaped crayons, I wondered if people may actually want to buy them after seeing how excited my own children got when coloring with them. Our kids actually named the business and are still very involved six years later. We started selling our crayons at festivals, then quickly moved into selling to children’s boutiques and eventually built our own website. The crayons we made led us then to start designing the giant-themed coloring tablecloths that we print and sell as well which are SO much fun. It amazes me that I get to be a part of something that brings a smile to a child’s face and a memory in their heart. The creativity just keeps flowing and we keep going with it!

As a working mother, what is one tip or piece of advice that you would give to other female entrepreneurs?

Shannon: Always believe in yourself, even if/when others do not. You will always be your greatest example to your children. Our kids are watching us even when we do not think they are. If they can grow up watching their mom work hard and succeed with confidence, they too will have that instilled in their own character. Never give up, just keep trying and changing until what you are working at takes off!

What do you like best about having a business that promotes self-care and personal growth?

Shannon: Community is key! I wish I could have been in a business group either locally or virtually and surrounded myself with like-minded people who had been where I was and could help me. I tried to figure it all out on my own and it just took me a lot longer than it could have if I was not alone doing it. It would have saved me a lot of mistakes and time. You can get to where you want to be quicker when you have a team cheering you on and sharing hacks and tips. I believe we are given our experiences so that we can help other people grow when they are where they once were.

I love this! And I would venture to say it’s not just for kids. I think she could even make some for adults (themed even: bridal showers, baby showers, etc.)
    So fun!
