Last month, after we spent the afternoon at Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park, we checked into our hotel and then made our way to Mikami Bar & Revolving Sushi for dinner. My family loves Japanese food, although this was our first time at a restaurant that served its food on a rotating conveyor belt!
We weren’t sure what to expect, but I have to say that the sushi was fresh, delicious and the rotating sushi/conveyor belt concept was quite entertaining!
The sushi is made fresh and rotates around as shown above. Made to order items, like miso soup or the specialty paparazzi roll, come out on a separate “robotic system” as shown below.
Speaking of robots, we ordered soft drinks and those were delivered by a robot from the kitchen! Check out this video on Instagram and make sure to watch until the very end.
The food and drinks can be ordered by using a touch screen or from a waiter. The restaurant serves beer, wine, specialty drinks, mocktails and soft drinks.
Traditional Japanese food like vegetable & shrimp tempura, sunomono salad (Japanese cucumber salad) and shrimp nigiri sushi are offered.
Thank you, Mikami Bar & Revolving Sushi, for hosting our dinner!

I’ve always wanted to visit a conveyor belt restaurant! How fun! It reminds me of when I was a little girl and there were counters that had self-serve or the walls where you could open a little door and you could grab a sandwich or a slice of pie.

I love conveyer belt sushi bars! Is it family friendly, by chance?

It’s definitely family friendly! We saw other tables with kids. The robot delivering drinks is a fun feature!
