I met Stacey Alysson earlier this year at her Beach Yoga class at Sandbox Fitness in Sherman Oaks. Her voice is so soothing & her yoga teaching style is just what I needed that one summer morning. She firmly but gently tries to push you to hold that pose a little longer, stretch & lengthen your arms. She also reminds you to breathe AND smile during the class! After the class ended, she graciously posed for a photo. If you are a yoga enthusiast, then you know how challenging it can be to hold this pose for a few seconds, let alone a minute or two while the camera is snapping pics.
Please meet the latest Real Mom of the SFV, Stacey Alysson!
Stacey grew up in the suburbs of Washington DC. She obtained a Bachelors of Science in Nutritional Science at the University of Maryland, and completed a program in Nutrition and Dietetics at Pepperdine University.
Stacey’s biggest passion has been the gift of yoga. Stacey completed her 200-hour Power Teacher Training at Hot 8 Yoga.
Stacey first started yoga when she was pregnant with her son, and found it to be very relaxing. Yoga not only helped keep her body in shape during her pregnancy, it also helped her create a sense of calm during a difficult time in her life. Yoga helped her look within, transform her life from the inside out, and gave her the confidence and the tools to create her own happiness, self-acceptance, and peace of mind.
How/why did you begin your business?
Stacey: I committed to and took a 200 hour teacher training at Hot 8 Yoga and got certified as a yoga instructor.
As a working mother, what is one tip or piece of advice that you would give to other female entrepreneurs?
Stacey: You are stronger than you know. And capable of doing it all now! It’s all about balance. Don’t let your circumstances hold you back.
What do you like best about working in the San Fernando Valley?
Stacey: I like having my own job, in addition to being a Mom. It gives me a sense of self worth, confidence and independence.
If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?
Stacey: I would have started sooner if I realized my own personal power and inner strength!!
Don’t you find her call to yoga just so inspirational? If you’d like to find out what LA or SFV yoga studio she is teaching at next, follow her on Twitter!
