XplosiveFit – Punching My Way Through the KickFit Class!

Posted on February 9, 2016 | Filed Under: Fitness | Tags: West Hills fitness studio, West Hills martial arts, XplosiveFit | 2 Comments

A couple weeks ago, I tried out a class at XplosiveFit in West Hills. The KickFit class is 30 minutes of sweaty fun, incorporating rope exercises & punching drills that I have never done. This class was like no other one that I’ve taken & it was just what I needed to change things up in my exercise routine!

After a thorough warm-up, Coach Rod (owner of XplosiveFit) breaks up the class into groups & then demonstrates each move that we will be performing during class. This particular Saturday’s KickFit class consisted of five different workout stations which we rotated through. First up for me, the ropes exercises!

XplosiveFit - RopesI’ve never worked out with ropes before but I was excited to try it. It was challenging but doable & I loved it!

Next up was working on the bar. During the first run-through, I did push-ups on it. Another time (after rotating through all five stations) we did a bridge/pull-up combo.

Then it was time for the punching drills. Being that I was a newbie, Coach Rod & his team of instructors made sure that I could follow the punching drills & had paired me up with people who were longtime members. Oh & don’t worry if you didn’t bring your own personal boxing gloves, XplosiveFit has several gloves in various sizes that they can lend to you.

First I took a turn with the punching mitts, while I called out punching combinations. Then it was my turn to put on the boxing gloves & get my inner Rocky on!

After sparring with my partner, I had a turn at punching the heavy bag.

The team at XplosiveFit is very encouraging. During the drills, Coach Rod & his team move about to each station, making sure that everyone is using proper technique, all the while motivating the group.

We went through several rounds of each station during those 30 minutes & man, does the time fly by! Overall I really enjoyed the KickFit class at XplosiveFit. I’m looking forward to taking more classes here & incorporating this unique workout into my fitness routine.

XplosiveFit is not only a fitness gym but it is also a martial arts studio. In fact, this Saturday XplosiveFit is hosting a FREE Bully Proof Workshop for kids ages 3-4 and also 5-12. You can check out the details here.
