Parenting: It Takes a Village – How the Covey App Can Help

Posted on November 14, 2016 | Filed Under: Mommy Stuff | Tags: Covey, Covey App, mom tribe, Parent App | 2 Comments

This post is part of a campaign sponsored by Covey App. All opinions are my own.

You know that saying, it takes a village to raise a child. I believe that same village is needed to help support & lift up parents. That village can come in the form of family, friends and/or neighbors. Fortunately when my daughter was born, my husband & I had family to lean on; however, I didn’t have close friends nearby who had children the same age as my daughter. Either they lived far away or their kids were slightly older than mine.

That changed when I joined a mommy group that met on a weekly basis when my daughter was about eight months old. We would talk about our joys & concerns, give product suggestions or share advice about eczema remedies (my little one suffered from it).

When I look back at that time (about a decade ago), this tribe of women that I became connected to was something that I really needed. But what about that time period before I joined the mommy group, when I would turn to the internet for answers to my burning questions? How about when I needed guidance in the middle of the night or wanted to compare notes with another mom of an eight month old, but didn’t want to wait until our next class meeting? That’s where the Covey App comes in!

Covey recognizes that parents, especially new ones, need to connect with other parents who understand what you’re going through. Covey also understands the importance of connecting with others whose kids are in the same life stage as yours. Sure my friend from college could empathize with my struggles as I tried to sleep train my daughter, but her memory was a little hazy since her son was 5 years old. How I wish that I had Covey back when my daughter was an infant!

So how does it work? Go to your app store & look for Covey – it’s free to download & available on both iPhone & Android phones. The app will ask you a series of questions so that it can connect you with other moms & dads based on your interests, location & kids ages.

You can join Covey to connect with other parents for support & advice, within Los Angeles & outside of LA. Being that I’ve been to almost all of the different indoor play centers in the Valley, I’ve used Covey to make recommendations to new moms about where to meet.

Covey Indoor Play Area Suggestion
I remember those days when I wasn’t familiar with the different resources & family-friendly businesses in the area. Pre-baby, I knew all the great workout & fitness studios to hit up in the Valley but after I had my baby, my knowledge of where to meet for Mommy Monday movie theater days or stroller-friendly parks was very limited. Covey would have really come in handy for me back then!
