When “Glory” came out in 1989, I was blown away by Morgan Freeman’s (The Dark Knight) performance. Denzel Washington (The Equalizer) left a lasting impression on me as Private Trip, especially during one very moving scene. I remember thinking that I had never seen Cary Elwes (Princess Bride) or Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) in a dramatic role.
“Glory” is a powerful movie and if you’ve never seen it, you now have the opportunity to watch it on 4K Ultra HD or Blu-ray.
So, what is the movie about? Check out the synopsis below…
The heart-stopping story of the first black regiment to fight for the North in the Civil War, GLORY stars Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington, Cary Elwes, and Morgan Freeman. Broderick and Elwes are the idealistic young Bostonians who lead the regiment; Freeman is the inspirational sergeant who unites the troops; and Denzel Washington, in an Academy Award®- winning performance (1989, Best Supporting Actor), is the runaway slave who embodies the indomitable spirit of the 54th Regiment of Massachusetts.
