In 2009, the first version of Minecraft video game was released. For parents with children who are teenagers and younger, chances are your kids played the video game. A Minecraft Movie is the first-ever live-action adaptation of Minecraft, which also happens to be the best-selling video game of all time.

A Minecraft Movie stars Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Jack Black (Nacho Libre). The film is directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite).

Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.

Rounding out the supporting cast is Emma Myers (Wednesday), Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple), Sebastian Eugene Hansen (Just Mercy), and Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus).

I actually went to see this at the cinema with my daughter and friends it was not intentional but as one of their friends pulled out and my daughter had purchased the ticket I ended up going. Although I had no idea of the characters I did enjoy the film

My daughter saw this at the cinema with her friend but my son didn’t get round to it. Good to know this as I can arrange a little movie day at home for him.

My teen was a HUGE Minecraft fan. He’s almost grown now but he still plays from time to time. I think he and his friends did go see this movie.
