Milk + Bookies held their 8th Annual Story Time Celebration on February 26th, Oscar Sunday. The event took place inside H.D Buttercup in Culver City, inside the historic Helms Bakery District.
My daughter & I arrived there right when it opened. We were greeted by fresh-brewed lattes by Coffee Commissary. This Cuban coffee latte was SO good!
Then we made our way over to the crafting tables, where my kiddo made a cool badge to wear.
Let me back up by saying that my daughter loves to read. She can be instantly captivated by the Harry Potter book series. So when she saw “Harry Potter” at the Story Time Celebration event, it totally made her day!
The event had fun literary characters roaming the venue, ready to pose with excited children. We saw Pippy Longstocking, Captain Hook, Little Red Riding Hood & Waldo from “Where’s Waldo?”
In addition to arts & crafts, they had several donation areas. One area for bidding on cool stuff, like artwork/home decor!
Another section where kids could decorate a book plate, paste it inside a book that the child personally picks out & then places it inside a book bin where it ultimately gets donated to a child in need.
There were several celebrity readings – Henry Winkler (who will always be “The Fonz” to me) & Julie Bowen from “Modern Family.”
We took photos with some nice folks, a few who you may recognize! Norbert the dog, who is a children’s book author (believe it or not) & also Tom Everett Scott from “That Thing You Do” & most recently “La La Land.”
There was yummy food provided by Thyme Cafe and Market & Cast Iron Catering LA.
As well as snacks from Mrs. Thinsters, Ripple Foods & McConnell’s Ice Cream!
This was such a fun day & more importantly, I was able to show my daughter what it is like to give back to a cause that she truly cares about. Thank you to Milk + Bookies for inviting my family to take part in such a wonderful event!
