Last week, Ruben Rojas unveiled The Heart, his largest sculpture to date, which can be found exclusively at Westfield Topanga!
The Summer of Love event was open to media and invited members of the San Fernando Valley community.
Ruben Rojas is an artist, muralist and clothing designer. A native of the San Fernando Valley, Ruben grew up in the 818 and went to Cal State University, Northridge. Check out my YouTube video and listen to Ruben describe in his own words how special it is to bring his art to the SFV!
Rubin, along with two members of the Westfield team, unveiled the sculpture to reveal a double-sided heart. One side features multi-colored love sculptures and the other side showcases the word “love” against a black background.
Even the coloring pages that they were handing out at the event had Ruben’s message of love and inclusivity!
During the event, I chatted with fashion stylist and influencer, Isaiah David (@thestyleguyla). I also met Nestor Aguilar of The 818 Insider. Nestor is producing The Valley Fest at Westfield Topanga, a food and entertainment festival, on August 28th.
Refreshments and light bites were provided by Coffee Cube, which can be found on Level 1 near Target. I sampled both the Rosehip Iced Tea and Guava Mint Tea Lemonade. The Rosehip Iced Tea was delicious and refreshing!
The Heart is Ruben Rojas’ fifth and final piece in Westfield Topanga & The Village’s Summer of Love art installation partnership. As you walk through the mall, you’ll find murals painted by Ruben with messages of love, equality and harmony. After the event, I brought my daughter back so that we could do some back-to-school shopping and also pose next to The Heart and Ruben’s Equality mural.
I’m thrilled that Ruben’s artwork adorns this local community shopping center. It serves as a reminder for us all to dream big and live through love!
