“Norman the Interested Cat” Book Series {Book Review + Giveaway}

Posted on August 4, 2021 | Filed Under: Books | Tags: Cheryl Cage, children's books, Dennis Caldwell, Norman the Interested Cat | Leave a Comment

There are four books in the “Norman the Interested Cat” book series. Written by Cheryl Cage, political consultant turned children’s book author, these books feature an adorable cat named Norman and encourage adults and children to have meaningful conversations.

In Cage’s first book, “Norman the (Interested in Everything) Cat,” readers will notice that Norman has a natural curiosity. The book teaches the importance of exploring new things with friends.

In the second book of the series, “Norman the Interested Cat: Happy Clothes,” gender stereotypes are tackled as Norman and his friends decide on what to wear to a friend’s birthday party. This book illustrates the importance of having friends who accept you exactly as you are.

The next book in the series is “Norman the (Interested in Keeping Friends Healthy) Cat.” This book is set in the middle of the pandemic and teaches the lesson of being respectful of other people’s health by wearing masks, staying six feet apart and washing hands.

The fourth book in the series was released on July 8th. “Norman the Interested Cat: Audie Finds Her Smile” reminds readers that a simple conversation with a friend can lead to healing.

The book teaches the lesson of not being afraid to share your feelings, especially with friends that you trust.

All four books are wonderfully illustrated by Dennis Caldwell, an artist and environmentalist, who specializes in natural history educational outreach. Caldwell’s work can be found in various parks and cultural sites throughout the United States.

As I had mentioned earlier, these books can be used to foster conversations between adults and kids. Cage’s website has a list of questions to prompt a dialogue about the different topics that the book touches on.

“Norman the Interested Cat” book series can be found wherever books are sold. If you’d like more information, check out the author’s website at https://www.normantheinterestedcat.com/.
