Earlier this month, I co-hosted a fun fitness event at BoxUnion Sherman Oaks.
After our group was checked-in and we got our gear stored in BoxUnion’s complimentary lockers, we immediately took a pre-workout selfie. I mean, we gotta get our photo done before we get sweaty, right?! 😉
Then it was time to head into the studio where Coach Matthew took us through a challenging workout. First, we did a shadowboxing warm-up and light cardio to get warmed up.
After the warm-up, it was time to hit the heavy bag! This is honestly my favorite part because I like to hit it hard. It’s such a stress release. The class is 45-minutes long and towards the end, we get a good ab workout and then of course there is a cool down.
Another reason I like BoxUnion is because of the atmosphere. The music is great, coaches are very motivating (I’ve taken several classes at BU so far) and I love the lighting. There’s something about being in a dimly lit room with mood lighting and just punching away. Since the lighting is dim, I don’t feel as self-conscious about people watching my form. Of course the coach is there to help you get your technique right, but it’s not like other boxing studios where you are called out in class to go into the middle of the room to hit a coach with boxing mitts.
After the class, the took a sweaty selfie with Coach Matthew and then it was time to hand out goodie bags, courtesy of Athleta Sherman Oaks!
Each attendee got a swag bag filled with cool products. Our friends at Drink Mirth donated cans for the swag bags. Drink Mirth is a sparkling water that comes in a variety of flavors and is made with Stevia, Monk Fruit or Xylitol and can be purchased on the company’s website, in Erewhon stores in Los Angeles and also available via DoorDash.
Each attendee also received a sample packet of plant protein powders from Nuzest. These vegan protein powders are made from European Golden Peas grown in France. If you’d like to try plant protein powders to add to your smoothies, visit https://bit.ly/3DhWY25 and use my coupon code “SFV15” to get 15% off Nuzest products.
The big item that we raffled off was a $50 Athleta shop card.
We also had Luciano from StretchLab Granada Hills, who gave complimentary stretches and massages out on the patio.
Want to see more pics from the event? Check out my Facebook photo album. We had a blast and it’s all thanks to BoxUnion Sherman Oaks, Athleta Sherman Oaks and StretchLab Granada Hills. I appreciate you partnering with Real Mom of SFV on this fun event!
