Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” opened on Friday, November 5th. I had the pleasure of watching an early screening and I wanted to share some fun facts about the movie. No spoilers from me though!
Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” follows a group of heroes from beyond the stars who had protected the Earth since the dawn of man. When monstrous creatures called the Deviants, long thought lost to history, mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.
The first “Eternals” Marvel comic book was published 45 years ago. Jack Kirby’s original “Eternals” Marvel comic books were first published in 1976. These comic books provided the inspiration for this film.
The movie has a very diverse cast. Four of the Eternals are white, three are Asian, two are Black, and one is Latina. One Eternal is gay and one is deaf.
The ensemble cast includes Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as cosmic-powered Kingo, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena.
“Eternals” is one of Marvel Studios’ most ambitious films to date. The superhero line-up is the studio’s biggest ensemble cast of new characters to date in one movie. Also, the story spans 7,000 years on Earth and in space. The visuals in the movie really capture how epic the movie feels.
Marvel Studios created an augmented reality (AR) story experience! Marvel Studios created an immersive story experience using Augmented Reality (AR) technology. I had a chance to demo it at the screening and I found it really impressive. Using your iPhone or iPad, you’ll get the chance to step inside the world of the “Eternals” and meet the heroes in AR. Check out the website for more details!
The movie is 2 hours and 37 minutes long. So make sure you grab some popcorn before you settle in at the theaters! As usual with Marvel movies, make sure you stay through the entire credits to see two special scenes. You may already have heard about the first post-credit scene, as there are spoilers posted on the internet (not from me though). The second post-credit scene had me wondering where will Marvel take us next?!?
“Eternals” is rated PG-13.and is open now in theaters everywhere.
