Chances are you’ve seen an indoor rowing machine, but did you know that you can take indoor rowing classes at Row House Granada Hills, a fitness studio in the San Fernando Valley?
Row House offers a full-body workout that builds strength and endurance. There are six different types of classes, each with a different focus, ranging from foundation, signature, full row, power, restore and even an express 30-minute class. They also have themed classes. I remember once taking a Bad Row-mance class on Valentine’s Day!
Yesterday, I was thrilled to co-host an event at Row House Granada Hills and introduce my group to this boutique fitness studio!
After checking in with a Row House associate, the group got set-up at their stations. But first, one of the newbies wanted to show me her guns!
Out of the 20 attendees, there were roughly 3-4 people who had done indoor rowing before, myself included. Coach Ed York went around the room to help each person get adjusted on the erg (aka rowing machine). After our warm-up, it was time for an introduction into the fundamentals of indoor rowing. We learned the meaning behind “meet me in the catch position” and some other terminology. Then it was time to do some intervals!
In addition to rowing, we did some floor exercises and used light to medium weights for arm exercises. After the 45-minute class was over, we posed for a post-workout sweaty selfie!
After the photo, it was time for the raffle contest. Four people won prizes ranging from a cookbook, energy supplements and movie DVDs! A Flexologist from StretchLab Granada Hills was on-hand to offer a complimentary stretch. Each attendee went home with a goodie bag, courtesy of Athleta Sherman Oaks.
Thanks Row House Granada Hills for having us and also a special shout out to Athleta for being our goodie bag sponsor. Want to see more photos from the event? Click here to see more pics!
