Last year my husband bought me a gift card for Perspire Sauna Studio in Porter Ranch. I had tried other saunas at various day spas before, but this one was next level! I loved it so much and looked forward to my sessions at Perspire. Watching TV while sitting in a sauna getting red light therapy was the ultimate self-care session for me!
Recently the studio celebrated its one-year anniversary and they hosted a party to commemorate the event! Attendees got to tour inside the sauna studio, meet local health & wellness vendors, and mingle with the community. It was a fun afternoon!
I’m a huge supporter of Perspire Sauna Studio and wanted to find out from Ermelinda what attracted her to being a franchise owner. There are a lot of businesswomen in the San Fernando Valley who can relate to her story. Please meet Ermelinda Cruz, owner of Perspire Sauna Studio Porter Ranch!
How/why did you begin your business?
Ermelinda: I started the business for a few reasons. My husband and I wanted to invest in something that would potentially pay for our kids’ college and our retirement. We were also really interested in something that would put us in the health industry, both for our own health and to bring to the community. My girlfriend introduced us to Perspire. She learned about infrared when her doctor recommended she sauna as post breast cancer treatment.
As a working mother, what is one tip or piece of advice that you would give to other female entrepreneurs?
Ermelinda: Yay! I’m in the mama brigade as well, two boys; ages 11 and 9. They’re a handful but I love it! My advice is to be as organized as possible and that it’s okay to delegate responsibility to the appropriate members of your team. As an entrepreneur, you need to know everything about your business. However, you don’t have to, and shouldn’t DO everything yourself. It’s not physically possible to do it all, and you must let go to be able to scale up.
What do you like best about having a business in the San Fernando Valley?
Ermelinda: The San Fernando Valley is a great place to live and have a business. We chose Porter Ranch because of the newer community and the opportunity in that area. We have great neighboring businesses both in the Porter Ranch Town Center and The Vineyards at Porter Ranch. We intend to open a second location in the south side of the valley in the next year or so.
If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?
Ermelinda: There are always things we don’t know. I feel good about how Perspire corporate has taught me about the business and how to run things. But the one thing I wish I knew before I started the business would be that building relationships with B2B partners and the community would not only be an important aspect, but also very rewarding! I love speaking with our members and guests, and really enjoy the friendships I’ve made with our partners, as well as other franchisees.

I have not gone to a sauna in a while and I know the health benefits of it. I need to go find a new spot for infrared sauna. I do love them. Glad you found a sauna/spa that caters to your needs.
