Karen Lord Pilates Movement {Fitness Review}

When you step into Karen Lord Pilates Movement (KLPM) on Melrose, you can’t help but marvel at the beautiful aesthetics. The studio perfectly balances a light, modern edge with a sense of warmth.

During a recent visit to their newly opened flagship, I had a chance to experience a class firsthand. After I checked in, I stowed my gear in the lockers. Before I walked into the Pilates room, I immediately took note of the lounge area that featured a stunning, giant crystal that made the room feel so zen.

After selecting a reformer near the front of the studio, I met my instructor, Jenna. KLPM offers precise, method-based Pilates that focuses on strength, alignment, and control. This reflects the philosophy of founder Karen Lord, who emphasizes intelligent sequencing and proper mechanics to develop sustainable posture and body awareness. During the session, Jenna gave me gentle form corrections and a helpful modification for my lower back.

Even though I’ve taken Pilates classes before, I found the Power Reformer class at KLPM to be an impressive challenge. We utlized every bit of their equipment, from the foot bar and straps to the exercise ball and ring. It was a full-body workout!

The studio also includes a dedicated private session room with custom classical equipment. You can see what it looks like in my video below!

Karen Lord Pilates Movement located on Melrose Avenue recently opened and I had the opportunity to try out a class. Stay to the end of the 🎥 to see the private room where you can take 1:1 classes. It’s gorgeous! #KarenLordPilatesMovement #MelroseAvenue #LoveAndPilates #ClassicalPilates #KLPM

Overall, I had a fantastic experience and highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a high-quality workout.

    It sounds like they really know what they are doing and are using the equipment to provide a great workout. It helps when they are on top of positioning as it is important to reduce the risk of injury but also to ensure you work out as efficiently and effectively as possible.

    I have never taken a pilates class, but I hear it’s so good for the body. I love to stretch after my workouts. I wonder if it would be great for an aging body.

    I’ve never tried Pilates before. I really need to look into it since I have rheumatoid arthritis. I’m pretty active at my current job but I think it would help me stay a bit more flexible and allow me to strengthen my muscles.
