Friday Feels: End of Summer Edition (August 2021)

Posted on August 20, 2021 | Filed Under: Food, Mommy Stuff, Product Reviews | Tags: Coffee Cube, Mingle Mask, Pure Ratios, Starlette Galleria, Yoga Pant Nation | 1 Comment

Hooray, it’s Friday! I can’t believe that it’s almost the end of summer. Well, technically summer officially ends on Wednesday, September 22nd, but because the school year has already started for LA/San Fernando Valley-area schools, it feels like summer is nearly over.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve enjoyed this summer break. It’s afforded me time to go on vacation, read some books and also relax from the school year grind of endlessly nagging my kid to do her homework. 😉

Listed below are some of my Summer 2021 faves!

Yoga Pant Nation

I found the perfect summer beach read in Yoga Pant Nation by Lauie Gelman. You may have read her other books, Class Mom or You’ve Been Vounteered. In Gelman’s latest novel, Jen Dixon, mom of a fifth-grade boy and two twentysomething daughters, is “voluntold” by her school’s PTA president to raise $10K for the fifth-grade class. In addition to navigating the fundraising world, Jen is on a mission to become a spin instructor! The book is very funny and so spot on! If you’ve ever volunteered at your child’s school for even just a day, then you’ll recognize some of the characters in this book.

Starlette Galleria – ‘The Good’ Bracelet

This bracelet is the epitome of wearing “your heart on your sleve.” Featuring a coral-colored heart, the bracelet setting is made of certified sterling silver, then plated in 14k gold. I’ve worn it several times in both casual and semi-formal settings. It’s fun to wear by itself or combine with other bracelets! For more info, check Starlette Galleria’s website here.

Mingle Mask

Earlier this month, I met my friend for coffee at an outdoor shopping center. At the time of our coffee date, wearing a mask outdoors was not required. I am also vaccinated against COVID-19. However, I wanted to be sensitive to the situation and so I wore a Mingle Mask, an eco-friendly invisible face mask. How is it considered eco-friendly? It’s made with recyclable materials and can be sanitized in-between uses (no more throwing away a paper mask after a single use).

The Mingle Mask covers the face and nose, making it easier to breathe and talk. The transparent plastic barrier stops the wearer from spreading droplets to other people. I found that my sunglasses didn’t fog up, my friend was able to hear me speak clearly and she could see my smile (or tell me if I had food in my teeth!) NOTE: You’ll need to check with CDC Guidelines and/or your state, county or city website for guidance on what type of mask is mandated to use outdoors and indoors. According to the company, this is a transitional solution for folks who still want protection but don’t require a medical-grade mask. If you’d like more information, check out the Mingle Mask website here.

Coffee Cube

It’s no secret that I enjoy a good latte! Earlier this month, while shopping for my daughter, I came across Coffee Cube. The Dulce de Leche Cookie is the perfect pick-me-up and their Iced Cubano Latte made with Oat Milk is addictive! Now that we are heading into fall, that means Pumpkin Spice Latte season is right around the corner. I sampled all three items and they taste yummy!

Pure Ratios

Pure Ratios is a CBD Hemp Extract brand that provides a variety of solutions to get relief from anxiety, sleep, pain and/or inflammation. As someone who suffers from insomnia at times and also pain (from working out a little too hard), this looks like a good remedy for me.

Now what is the difference between Hemp CBD and Cannabis CBD? Check out this article from Medical News Today.

I was recently gifted with the Pure Ratios Bundle Box which includes:

  • Hemp Extract Lip Balm

I am not a doctor, so I am not making any claims as to what this product can do for you. As for me, I felt great after trying some of these products. Feel free to consult with your physician before taking any CBD Hemp products. I’m also not a legal expert and to my knowledge, CBD is not legal in all 50 states.
